“That was the most delicious meal I’ve had in half a century.” Harper took a sip of her cappuccino.
Damon’s gaze flitted to her full lips, lingered there, mesmerised by their gentle curve.
“I have froth on my lip, don’t I?” She brushed her fingertip along her lip, the movement slow and sensual, and yet she appeared oblivious to how sexy the action was.
Or maybe it was wishful thinking. Was she really enjoying his company, or was she still considering his suitability for joining her dating agency?
“Except for that cheese stuff,” she said. “What did you call it?”
“Roquefort.” He’d noticed she hadn’t touched it, but the tangy blue cheese wasn’t to everyone’s taste, and he liked that she wasn’t afraid to speak the truth, unlike other women, who usually told him what they thought he wanted to hear. Along with their tiresome cooing and fluttering of false eyelashes, or the less than subtle cleavage thrust in his face, like he should be aroused by it. In truth, he was more of a bum man; the more rounded and peachier, the better.
“Yeah, Roquefort. I’m more of an ordinary cheddar kind of girl.”
“There’s nothing ordinary about you, Harper. I could say you’re hextraordinary.”
“Thanks. But since we’re talking cheeses—weirdly—” she grinned, “no more of your cheesy jokes. They were awful. In fact, they were blood-y dreadful.”
Why did she have to mention blood? He’d caught the sweet scent of her blood all evening, wafting across the table whenever she moved. He was doing so well, resisting her, but the thought of nuzzling into her pale neck, maybe giving it a nip or two… one exquisite drop of her blood…
“No, seriously,” she continued. “Those vamp jokes really sucked.”
Dear God, now she was really teasing him. Maybe. Hopefully.

Interview with the Author
Vampires are notoriously nocturnal. Are you personally a morning lark or a night owl? How does this influence your writing schedule or creative process?
I’m a morning person, always have been. I get up super early, make myself a huge mug of tea and get some writing done before my family wake up and ruin the peace and quiet!
Every author adds their own twist to the vampire mythology or genre conventions. What’s one traditional vampire myth you put your own spin on? What’s one aspect of vampire lore you kept and incorporated into your series?
A twist I added was that garlic, crucifixes, walking in daylight, etc. are all a myth and vampires have been living undetected among us for centuries, and they also find our mythology amusing. One aspect I did keep was the bloodlust.
Tell us about your book. What drew you to writing a book about vampires? What made you decide to write this particular book or series? What can readers expect?
I think I fell in love with vampires when I watched An Interview with a Vampire – after that I was hooked! I wanted to write this book to show a lighter side to vampires—they don’t all have to be blood-sucking demons! In fact, Damon, the claustrophobic, newbie vampire in my new release, Dating a Vampire, has a penchant for telling the worst jokes this side of the magic veil. Readers can expect a lot of laughs with a vamp who doesn’t take himself too seriously.
Let’s talk tone: Did you go dark and brooding vampires with spooky undertones, or is your book laugh-out-loud funny? Something else entirely? Let us know what to expect.
Dating a Vampire is a paranormal romantic comedy. A lighthearted read with fun, quirky characters, sizzling chemistry, and spiced with a little heat, too.
What surprised you most when you were writing this book or series?
How much fun I had writing this series.
Besides your own, what book or series would you most recommend to readers looking for a good vampire read?
I’m reading License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen right now, and Eve Langlais’s Crazy is brilliant too.
How many books are available in your series currently? How many are planned total?
This is book 1 in the series, Love Bites: A Dating Agency for Paranormals. Dating Werewolf and Dating a Dragon will be coming soon, with Dating an Angel, and Dating a Mermaid to follow, as well as a prequel to the series, Fangs and Fur-ever Afters. I have several more planned, so possibly eight or more in the series.
Are the vampires in your series inherently good, evil, or morally neutral?
I would say inherently good, but with a little evil thrown in to keep things interesting!
What’s your favorite quote or line from your book?
This is a conversation between my heroine, hapless witch, Harper, and her best friend.
“Don’t pull that disapproving face at me, Zar. I haven’t been on a date in goodness knows how long, and Damon sounded so charming on the phone, and not at all ‘Vlad the Impaler’—”
“Wait, you arranged a blind date with a vampire?” Zarya interrupted. “What if he is dangerous, or worse, ugly?”
“Vampires are never ugly, everyone knows that.”
